Opportunity Details
Longfellow Creek Watershed Council
Who: The mission of the Longfellow Creek (LFC) Watershed Council is to protect and preserve the waters of Longfellow Creek.
What: Clearing new tracts for restoration at this green space requires the removal of blackberry canes and root balls. Cleared ground is then typically covered: a process known as “sheet mulching.”
Why: Longfellow Creek is one of only five salmon-bearing streams left in Seattle and drains one of the largest watersheds in Seattle. The water quality of Longfellow Creek is compromised, and LFC Watershed Council is focusing on improving the upstream habitat.
