Age Minimum (with Adult): 18+, Minimum Age:21+

Boys & Girls Club Advisory Board

Club Advisory Board (CAB) Members are a vital part of our mission and our journey toward sustainability through the partnerships we build and maintain. Thank you for supporting youth development in King County. CAB members are active participants in community-based volunteer groups that support Boys & Girls Club staff, raise operating funds for youth development programs, serve as ambassadors to the community, and identify new Club Advisory Board members and partnerships.

COMMITTMENT Club Advisory Board (CAB) membership is a suggested minimum 2-year commitment. CAB members are encouraged to volunteer beyond the 2-years, and step into Vice President and President leadership roles, as well as Secretary or County Committee opportunities, as time permits. Upon the completion of a CAB member’s term commitment, we hope that exiting CAB members recruit a replacement to take over his or her position on the Club Advisory Board.

PARTICIPATION The collaborative nature of our Club Advisory Boards makes participation in monthly meetings critical. Endeavor for 100% attendance at monthly CAB meetings, but a minimum of 75% is desired. The option for call-in attendance is available for several CAB meetings. If you cannot make a CAB meeting, please inform the President. Participation in Local Club and Community Outreach Events is encouraged, and fun! Each Club Advisory Board hosts their own club-specific community events, social mixers, and staff appreciation parties. It is the hope that CAB members will participate in a minimum of 3 club events annually. Club Advisory Board Members should plan to attend one annual King County event: Kids Auction, Lunch Break or Youth of the Year. The option to participate as a volunteer or donate in-lieu of event attendance is greatly appreciated.

FUNDRAISING We hope that your experience as a Club Advisory Board Member encourages you to contribute to the youth we serve with a personal gift. Your donation, of any amount, supports the advancement of youth development programs in King County, and employee matching contributions can help your gift go that much further. Helping to identify businesses in your community or spheres of influence that are interested in supporting your club is especially appreciated during our major events. This could include auction item procurement, event sponsorship outreach, and corporate volunteering. Club Advisory Board Members are ambassadors to the communities we serve, as well as our donors. Club tours, new donor outreach, and engagement are all excellent ways to steward donors who support the Boys & Girls Club.

STAFF APPRECIATION Boys & Girls Club staff are our greatest asset. CAB members help to support the hard work of our club colleagues by organizing appreciation events throughout the year. Holiday parties, small gifts, and club clean-up days are all ways that CABs can say ‘thank you’ to our valued Boys & Girls Club Youth Development Professionals.

STRATEGIC CAB MEMBER RECRUITMENT We love it when Club Advisory Board members share their CAB experience and club volunteer opportunities with friends, family, community members, and work colleagues. Advisory Board growth is vital to the continued vibrance and diversity of our volunteer community.

CLUB SUPPORT PROJECT There are several opportunities throughout the calendar year to participate in hands-on service opportunities at your club. CAB members are encouraged to take advantage of these opportunities as a way to learn more about the club’s day-to-day activities, successes, challenges, and youth development programs. Roll up your sleeves and have fun!
