After-School All-Stars Puget Sound

After-School All-Stars Puget Sound Board Member Role Description ABOUT After School All-Stars is one of the leading national after-school program providers in the country.  Our comprehensive school-based programs combine academics, enrichment, and health and wellness activities to help students build the knowledge and skills they need to succeed, both in school and in life. Founded by Arnold Schwarzenegger in 1992, ASAS is building a national model for after-school program delivery through our 19 chapters, all of which serve nearly 90,000 youth in major urban localities. ASAS launched programs in the Puget Sound region during Fall 2016 and serves approximately 600 economically disadvantaged students in three middle schools (Meeker Middle School—Kent School District, Dimmitt Middle School—Renton School District, and Showalter Middle School—Tukwila School District). BOARD OF DIRECTORS After-School All-Stars Puget Sound’s Advisory Board is a body that works closely with the Executive Director to facilitate and guide the execution of our mission. We are primarily composed of corporate employees from the finance, hospitality, tech, real estate and food and beverage industries. Examples of companies represented include EY, Microsoft, Amazon, Starbucks, Boeing, New York Life, Marriott International, and Mondelez.  We strongly value diversity of thought, profession, age, race/ethnicity, gender identity, ability and sexual orientation. To align with the growth and reach of our programs, ASAS Puget Sound is currently seeking responsible and energetic individuals who are passionate about closing the achievement and opportunity gaps via transformative after-school programming..  We are looking for individuals who can bring their expertise and fresh ideas to our organization. Ideal candidates will: Be motivated to work on behalf of our youth Preferably have expertise in one of the following areas: marketing, PR, non-profit law, education and technology Be well-connected in the community and knowledgeable about local middle schools or South King County school districts Be experienced in and enthusiastic about fundraising Attend quarterly board meetings (typically in Seattle, Renton or Issaquah) Help cultivate supporters for an annual fundraiser event Make a personal annual financial contribution each fiscal year that is meaningful and significant, as part of the $5,000 “give and get” commitment (board dues) Develop an individual fundraising plan to meet the $5,000 “give and get target” or more Recruit and propose potential candidates who could further ASAS Puget Sound’s work for nomination to the Advisory Board Be an active advocate and ambassador for the organization Be committed to fostering a safe and inclusive space to help us better serve our mission Be interested in joining the board for a renewable three-year term APPLICATION PROCESS Interested individuals should contact the Executive Director, Ranna Daud ( for more information.  Top board candidates will be invited to interview with the Board Chair and Executive Director, meet with and be interviewed by youth participants, and attend an initial board meeting. Onboarding of new board members is ongoing throughout the year.
