Jewish Family Services- Russian or Mandarin-speaking Food Bank Volunteer
The JFS Polack Food Bank on Capitol Hill is seeking Food Line Volunteers who speak Russian or Chinese (Mandarin). Each month the Jewish Family Service Food Bank distributes food to about 1800 individuals through its open food bank program. The food bank operates with the best practices model of "Consumer Choice," by which clients shop for products according to their personal needs and preferences. This model functions as an alternative to the standardized model where clients are given a pre-made grocery bundle. Here at the food bank, our goal is to provide clients with grocery assistance to meet their individual needs in an effective and dignified manner. As a Food Line Volunteer you will work as a team with food bank staff and other volunteers to support clients in their shopping experience. Volunteers will typically work one two-hour shift per week every week. Food bank shifts are available Wednesday and Friday 10-12 and Thursday 2-4.
