You'll need to create a free account through our website to register for opportunities listed on the Volunteer Calendar. Click the blue "Login" button above and follow the prompts or follow the steps below.
At the top of the page, you’ll see a box labelled “Basic Search and Search Options.” Click the green plus to expand the box. You can then filter your search by location, distance, issue area, age, and more. Click “Additional Filters” to narrow your search even further!
Some of our nonprofit partners have age requirements, and others specifically want to work with youth volunteers. You can use the Search box to filter for age and each opportunity will note the minimum age requirements at the top right hand corner of their post. If you are an adult that plans to regularly accompany a youth volunteer, we recommend forming a Volunteer Team (see below).
Seattle Works staff does not attend the opportunities listed on the Volunteer Calendar so our organization cannot verify hours for reporting purposes. You should reach out directly to the nonprofit that is hosting the event to arrange any documentation that you might need for your class, school, employer, or court-ordered program. If you need help identify the correct contact, you can contact Seattle Works staff.
The more, the merrier! If you plan to volunteer together regularly, you can create a Volunteer Team, which enables the Team Captain to register multiple people at the same time. Log in to your account, click “My Teams” and follow the prompts.
If you don't have all the names of your group members yet, that's okay! When you create your team, you'll see an option to add Additional Unnamed Team Members. Add the number of additional team members you expect in that column next to your name. To add team members later, log-in to your Seattle Works account, click "My Teams" and manage your team. Add additional team member names and reduce the number of Unnamed Team Member slots you are holding.
Yes, you can check on your upcoming events by logging into your account. Simply click “Remove Me” by the event that you wish to cancel. If you’d like to reschedule for a later date, simply return to the calendar and sign up for the next one.

For liability and reporting purposes, Seattle Works will share your first name, last name, and email address with the nonprofit hosts of each volunteer opportunity. It's important for nonprofits to have a clear sense of who is entering their buildings, working with their constituents and clients, and follow up with important details. If you are uncomfortable with sharing your contact information, you can contact Seattle Works staff with your concerns or questions.
