Do Something
Create a More Welcoming Housing Facility for Isolated Individuals

Agency: Multifaith Works

Description: Multifaith Works works with isolated people who are living with HIV/AIDS, are homeless, or who are in recovery from substance abuse.

Volunteers will be:
• Weeding the two patches out front closest to the parking lot
• Staining the deck
• Washing the outside of the upstairs windows
• Washing the outside of the windows
• Clean the upstairs deck (leaf litter, etc)
• Cleaning the parking lot

Multifaith Works’ Transformational Housing Program provides housing and connection to addiction and mental health services for homeless people living with HIV/AIDS. The program also manages a respite house for people with HIV/AIDS who are exiting the hospital but are not yet well enough to live on their own. The program currently manages five transitional living community houses and one short-term respite house for people who are medically fragile and who need added support. Multifaith Works relies solely on volunteers for the long-term maintenance and upkeep of their office and each of our houses. With a volunteer group helping with projects at our Main Office, Multifaith will be able to complete long overdue facility tasks. Stigmatized and removed from “mainstream” life by disease or homelessness, these people often sequester themselves away from others and end up lonely, afraid, and lacking a support network. The upkeep and beautification of our office will make our building a more welcoming and pleasing place and environment for staff and guests to work, meet, socialize, and build community.
