Do Something
Hot Project with King Conservation District

Agency: King County Conservation District

Description: King Conservation District is dedicated to promoting the sustainable uses of natural resources through responsible stewardship.

The summer months are a very important time for our restoration projects. Summer months are spent controlling invasive plants from over taking areas planted with native trees and shrubs. Volunteers will help by pulling out and digging up weeds, such as English Ivy and blackberry. Other control methods will include laying down weed barriers and spreading mulch.

The goals with our projects are not only to re-establish native trees and shrubs to improve water quality and increase wildlife habitat, but to expose citizens to the idea of being good stewards. Volunteers will be exposed to different aspects of restoration, but will also learn the connections and impacts that we have on the environment.
