Do Something
Bring Back Fond Memories of a Beautiful Yard to an Elderly Woman Living Alone

Agency: Catholic Community Services - Volunteer Chore Services

Description: Volunteer Chore Services, a program of Catholic Community Services, is committed to helping low-income elders and adults with disabilities remain living independently in their own homes through a network of caring community members, individuals like yourself.

Volunteers will be providing major yardwork and cleanup to an elderly woman living alone in Burien, who fondly remembers having a beautiful yard, but is now no longer able to keep up with it because of health issues. We will provide weeding, removal of blackberry bushes, holly, morning glories and other weeds, clear the front and back yards of debris, remove dead plants, and rake up and remove debris.

This client lives alone, and loves her garden as one of her only creative outlets. She fondly remembers when her yard used to be beautiful, and feels ashamed of it now. She is not able to bend and lift, kneel, or do other work necessary to keep up her garden. Our help is necessary to keep her yard beautiful.
