YOU CAN BE A VOLUNTEER LEADER

Hot Project Coordinators

Each of our Hot Projects are led by a fantastic Seattle Works volunteer, an easy but important job! Project Coordinators help recruit for the project, welcome participants, serve as the contact for the hosting organization day-of and invite project participants to an optional post-project social event (lunch, beers, your call).

Time commitment: training plus three projects over a three-month time period.

Team Works Team Captains

Team Captains are the root of cohesive teams! They set the tone for the duration of the Team Works cycle and can make or break the round. Team Captains facilitate attendance, help manage projects, lead the group in reflection and plan social events. They are essentially the team's host. For four months you'll volunteer with the same group of 15 people one Saturday per month, each time focusing on a different community issue at a different organization.

Time commitment: training, a kick-off event and four Saturday service projects, with two additional hours each month for coordination.

Seattle Works Day Team Captains

Our largest annual service event brings together 1,500 people to enhance our urban green spaces and support Seattle Works.

This event attracts groups all sorts of groups - from corporations to groups of friends, to college alumni, faith groups, political campaigns and amateur sports teams.

Time commitment: one Saturday service project, a Team Captain kick-off event and several hours of team recruitment and coordination

How to step up: no application is necessary, just sign up! You can learn more about Seattle Works Day on its very own page.

Corporate Service Project Volunteer Leaders

Companies contract with Seattle Works to host employee volunteer service projects. In the case of really big projects, we turn to the Seattle Works community to help these project succeed.

For example, in August 07, we worked with 350 UPS executives to do a major upgrade at Brighton Playfield and spruce up the hallways at the adjoining Aki Kurose Middle School. This project went off without a hitch thanks to 25 volunteer leaders who spent the day leading specific aspects of the project.

You never really know when these are going to pop up, but the best way to catch them is by subscribing to the Weekly Email.
