MAKE AN IMPACT
Seattle Works is taking our volunteer programs on the road!
Spend
a weekend in the mountains...a week in the Gulf Coast... or ten
days in Peru. Our goal is to provide you with
more in-depth volunteer opportunities
that can accommodate
a variety of schedules and budgets.
Overnight
Join Team Not so New to Seattle for
one of Team Works’ favorite summer projects and help break
down camp for the year. Camp Sealth is an 86 year old
tradition on Vashon Island, serving 7,000 youth each year in
summer camp programs, leadership and environmental
education. With 70 buildings, miles of trails and 14
campsites, there is tons of work to do.
The team will carpool over Saturday evening, stay in camp
cabins and work hard on Sunday. Join them!

For a week
Join us in our efforts to help restore the Gulf Coast.
It's been nearly three years since Hurricane Katrina and the amount
of work left to do is staggering. Little by little, however,
Seattle Works volunteers are making a real difference.
This fall's trip is scheduled for Oct 11-18 and is done in partnership with
Katrina
Corps.
Seattle Works has booked all trip logistics and has a
fabulous volunteer leader in place! The team will stay with
Katrina Corps in dormitory style housing and work with
various community organizations to rebuild homes, open
schools, spruce up community centers and help re-landscape
New Orleans. For more information, check out our
blog
to read excerpts from this summer's past team!
Trip Dates: October 11-18
Orientation: September 18, 6-7pm at
the Seattle Works office
Cost: $595 (includes flights, transportation to and from the
airport and project sites in New Orleans (not to and from
the airport in Seattle), light breakfasts and lunches, a
couple of dinners, simple dorm-style living accommodations,
a Katrina Corps t-shirt, cultural immersion experiences and
tour of the lower 9th war)
Sign-up: This trip is full; stay tuned
for future dates!
With a passport
Seattle Works has teamed up with
Crooked Trails
to design our first-ever international
service trip! We'll be taking a team to the Inca Village of Chinchero,
located in the Andes Mountains of Peru, to help put the
finishing touches on a new boarding school for orphans.
Volunteers will stay in the homes of Chinchero families,
work during the day, and explore in the afternoons. The
trip includes four travel days, five work days and the
option of an additional two day excursion to Machu Picchu.
Dates:
November 8-18
This trip is full, but we will have more international
opportunities in 2009!
