Do Something

More details, for those who like to look before they leap.

How does it all shake down?
Swank is Saturday, October 10, 6pm-midnight at the Seattle Marriott Waterfront. The evening has three phases:

1) Silent auction and cocktail hour
Cruise through check in, survey the silent auction tables and write in a bid or two, chat with your friends, get some raffle tickets, nibble some light appetizers and buy yourself a drink at the bar.

2) Live auction and dinner
This is where it starts to get a little rowdy. You'll sit at a table of 10 folks, enjoy dinner and complimentary flowing wine. Best of all, you'll be tempted by exciting items that you can raise that paddle for.

3) Dancing and check-out
And now it's time for some serious dancing. For those less inclined to get down, there's also more time to chat, cash bar and the opportunity to pick up those fantastic auction items you won. This year we're excited to welcome DJ Kazan.

What does it take to put together a table?
A table seats 10 guests. Round yourself up nine folks and purchase the table online. While a few folks spring for the whole table, just about everyone has their guests pay them back for their seats.

Bonus of buying a table: $50 savings and you are guaranteed to all be sitting together. Plus, we will love you forever.

Some extra details: when you register, you'll have the option to enter in your guests' names, emails and meal preferences. If you know that info, great. If you don't, no worries - it's also easy to let us know later. Guest information just needs to be confirmed the Friday a week prior to the event - 10/2.

What if I don't have 10 people?
Individual tickets are also available and you can buy as many or as few as you like. You can request to sit with other guests who buy their tickets separately - no promises we'll be able to make it work, but we do our best to honor all requests. Early birds usually win.

What do I wear?
The official dress is "cocktail attire". Interpret as you wish.
We think these people all look awesome:

Do I need a date?
Heck no! We get plenty of people who come with a date, plenty of people who come looking for a date and plenty of people could care less about a date and are having a good time with their friends.

What's up for bid?
- Dining & Spirits - everything from Molly Moon's pint-of-the-month club to a gift certificate at Quinn to a group cooking class at Diane' s Market Kitchen to a cocktail party for 20 at the Baltic Room. Plus wine, wine and more wine.

- Experiences - ranging from outings at The Parlor and Lucky Strike to massages from Moon Rock and Synergy to a Boeing Flight Simulator experience. You can even bid on the chance to spend the day on a Grady Excavating dump truck!

- Sports - sit and spectate with the Sounders, Seahawks and Mariners, or get in on the action with a group class from Roar Yoga, entries to the STP and Seattle Marathon or tickets to Crystal Mountain.

- Home/Personal - cruise in style thanks to Mr Detail Auto Salon or opt out and check out Zip Car, keep your pooch happy with dog-walking services, spoil yourself with monthly deliveries from Mercer Island Florist, be an excellent gift giver of Ben Bridge jewelry.

- Travel - get your show on the road with a night downtown at Hotel Andra, a weekend at Friday Harbor House or a week in Cape Cod, Molokai or Puerto Rico.

What are we raising money for?
So glad you asked! Dollars support our work to get more people volunteering, voting, giving money and stepping up as leaders. We facilitated more than 25,000 volunteer hours last year alone! Not to mention the fact that we provide training on boards and commission, provide non-partisan and useful voter information, connect people with established community leaders and provide a forum for our generation to make connections with one another. You can learn about our programs at www.seattleworks.org.
