Do Something

Swank home | About Swank | Guest Details | Sponsorship | What's up for bid?

Swank is TONIGHT - be sure you're set!

This information is designed to help you gear up for the event and ensure that you have the most fabulous time possible. And that's a pretty fabulous time!

How do I get there and where do I park?
Directions are below. We are big fans of carpools, taxi cabs and designated drivers!

When should I arrive?
Doors open at 6pm and it's a packed evening. Forget about "fashionably late". It's fashionable to be there on time to enjoy it all!

What should I wear?
The official dress is "cocktail attire". Interpret as you wish, or check out the photos on our website. Swank is one of those rare Seattle occasions where everyone actually dresses up!

What should I listen to as I get ready?
We reccomend this.

Do I need a ticket or a confirmation letter?
No - all you need to check in is your swanky self.

How can I do my part to ensure everyone has a great time with minimal lines?
- A good number of guests wind up purchasing an auction item, buying a raffle ticket, kicking in some money for dessert and/or making a gift to Seattle Works. You can speed up check-out by providing your credit card at check-in. If you don't wind up making a purchase, your card will absolutely, positively not be charged and your credit card information will be destroyed.

- There is complimentary wine with dinner and a no-host bar available at the beginning and of the evening. You can speed up the bars by bringing CASH.

What's up for bid?
- Dining & Spirits - everything from Molly Moon's pint-of-the-month club to a gift certificate at Quinn to a group cooking class at Diane' s Market Kitchen to a cocktail party for 30 at the Baltic Room. Plus wine, wine and more wine.

- Experiences - ranging from a 16-person Lucky Strike bowling party to massages from Moon Rock and Synergy to behind-the-scenes tour of Dale Chihuly's studios. You can even bid on the chance to spend the day on a Grady Excavating dump truck!

- Sports - sit and spectate with the Sounders, Seahawks and Mariners, or get in on the action with a group class from Roar Yoga, entries to the STP and Seattle Marathon or tickets to Crystal Mountain. Finally, soak up the memories as you wear Sounders gear or show off your official MLS ball signed by Freddie Ljungberg!

- Home/Personal - cruise in style thanks to Mr Detail Auto Salon or opt out and check out Zip Car, keep your pooch happy with dog-walking services, spoil yourself with monthly deliveries from Mercer Island Florist, be an excellent gift giver of Ben Bridge jewelry.

- Travel - get your show on the road with a night downtown at Hotel Andra, a weekend at Friday Harbor House or a week in Cape Cod, Molokai or Puerto Rico.

Many of our auction items are great for groups! So talk to your fellow guests about bidding together - whether it's six people sharing a house on San Juan Island, eight ladies shopping for lingerie or 14 folks enjoying a behind-the-scenes tasting and tour at Starbucks HQ with tasty treats.

And finally, you'll have the opportunity to raise your paddle and make a straight-up donation to Seattle Works during the live auction's fund-a-palooza.

Check out our auction preview page.

What are we raising money for anyway?
So glad you asked! Seattle Work is nonprofit organization that is mobilizing a generation - and we need your support to do that. We facilitated 25,000 hours of volunteer service last year! We also provide board training, produce a Candidate Guide and host dialogues with elected officials and other community leaders. Swank comprises about 30% of our annual budget.

This month alone, we'll host 13 Hot Projects (aka one-time volunteer opportunities) and have 21 Team Works teams of 15 people each spend a Saturday volunteering. They're helping at places including Brighton Elementary School, Operation Sack Lunch, Gatewood Elementary School, Jubilee Women's Shelter, EarthCorps, Lettuce Link, Seattle Goodwill and Washington Talking Book & Braille Library.

Nonprofits are trying to do more with less, and they need the support of volunteers now more than ever. They need Seattle Works!

We encourage you to learn more about us at www.seattleworks.org or see stories and pictures from recent projects on our blog. We also welcome your participation in upcoming volunteer projects and events.
